Xeno & Oaklander have always had one foot solidly planted in the sensibilities of the now, with the other foot-tapping along to the sounds of the ’80s. No more so is this the case than “Palms” from their latest record Topiary, which fuses a four-to-the-floor groove with Bauhaus-inspired composition and mood. Their new video, directed by Lauryn Siegel, is no different—playing upon the old school wave and industrial forms but with slick and playful contemporary editing techniques.
