The Golden Filter give away free mixtape
Perhaps best known for shimmering disco tracks like ‘Thunderbird’ and remixes for Cut Copy, Little Boots, and Empire Of The Sun, NYC-based dance outfit The Golden Filter now give us an interesting insight into their inspirations on a mixtape compiled for the Oki-Ni series. ‘Suicide’, as the title goes, showcases tracks that have influenced the band since early on along with some modern classics.
Starting with Nico‘s ‘Le Petit Chevalier’ the mix contains such morbidly appealing tunes like Helium‘s ‘Comet #9’ and Cabaret Voltaire‘s ‘No Escape’, but instead of drowning the listener in a desperate goth-atmosphere TGF soon increase the pace with uptempo-tracks such as Factory Floor‘s ‘View Too Much’, Glass Candy‘s ‘The Chameleon’ or their own ‘Le Renard D’Or’. All in all a pleasingly diverse mix of hazy psychedelica and musical obscurities. Be sure to give these 22 tracks a listen here or here.
The free release is accompanied by a limited-edition screen-printed poster designed by the band. You can buy it or – even better – win a signed copy!
