Videodrome #72 – This week’s best videos
Honestly, as I was compiling the column this week, I found myself losing my heart to Angel Haze. Though nobody liked my video post on my Facebook wall, I am still more than convinced that the blogosphere is strong with this one. Check out her new video and a handful of others that have been floating our metaphorical boat this week.
#1 Angel Haze – Werkin Girls, directed by Alex Lee & Kyle Wightman
Rap newcomer Angel Haze recently dropped her brilliant new track “Werkin Girls”. A feminist manifesto of sorts so here’s a shout out to all of the werkin girls out there!

#2 Connan Mockasin – Faking Jazz Together, directed by Fleur&Manu
Last year, when Connan Mockasin released his Forever Dolphin Love album via Erol Alkan‘s Phantasy imprint, I was blown away. It took until last week—when a remix appeared online—for the rest of the interwebs to discover him. Peep this video by the French directing duo Fleur&Manu.

#3 Erdbeerschnitzel – Hello, self-directed
German producer Erdbeerschnitzel will release his debut album Tender Leaf on November 19 via Hamburg based record label Mirau. Now you can get an idea of what he’s all about while watching this effects-laden video.

#4 Tomorrow’s World – So Long My Love, directed by James D. Kelly
Jean-Benoît Dunckel is one-half of both Air and Tomorrow’s World. This track “So Long My Love” comes courtesy of the latter group; dark, 50s via 80s retro styling meets effortless modernity—a stunning piece of work.

#5 WEARE18 – Call Me Maybe
Nice edit by WEARE18 (Boyfriend and Jorge). Tune.

#6 Vitalic – Stamina, directed by Saman Keshavarz
France’s Vitalic has been quiet for some time now. Luckily he has a new album Rave Age out November 5. Here’s a new, tasty video to go along with it.

#7 Mykki Blanco – Haze.Boogie.Life, directed by Danny Sangra
Ok, ok, I’m not trying to be on some fanboy trip but here’s Mykki’s follow-up video to “Wavvy” which keeps the momentum raging on.

#8 The xx – Chained, directed by Young Replicant
I ask you one last time /// Did I hold you too tight /// Did I not let enough light in

#9 ON AN ON – Ghosts, directed by by Joe Carsello
ON AN ON is the band that sprung forth from Scattered Trees after the departure of two of their members earlier this year. Their debut album Give In will be released on January 29th via Roll Call Records. “Ghost” is the first single from this album.

#10 SWW – Your Silence Is Killing Me, directed by Gabriel Henrique Gonzalez
Londoner SWW aka Sarah Williams White has just released her splendid new single, “Your Silence is Killing Me”. The track is a dark, soulful delight that would be perfect at 2am, accompanied by some whiskey burning down your throat.
